Titan Quest II guide: 12 tips to help you bring down mythological monsters

Titan Quest II, the sequel to the hit action role-playing game (ARPG), has finally arrived. Developed by Grimoire Games and published by THQ Nordic, Titan Quest II promises thrilling combat across a myth-laden Greek countryside as you fight against the forces of the vengeful Nemesis.

Our Titan Quest II guide has several tips to help you get started on your adventure. We tackle everything from build customization and skill point allocation to surviving out in the wilds as you face the divine and the damned.

Choose your difficulty and be ready for challenges along the way

When you create your character in Titan Quest II, you’ll be able to choose from three difficulty options. Pick the one that you’re most comfortable with as you begin your journey.

  • Neophyte: Your character takes half the damage and regenerates health faster. You can permanently switch to Normal difficulty via a Ritual Shrine (more on this later).
  • Normal: The default difficulty.
  • Hardcore: This option isn’t for the faint of heart, as the death of your character is permanent and you'll have to create a new one.

Build out your main attributes and secondary attributes

An important Titan Quest II tip to keep in mind is that your character’s capabilities are governed by their attributes. You can add points to increase your main attributes, which then subsequently affect your secondary attributes. The main attributes include:

  • Might: Supports heavy armor, ornate armor, and heavy weapons.
  • Agility: Supports light armor, medium armor, and fast weapons.
  • Knowledge: Supports magos robes, plated robes, and magical weapons.
  • Vigor: Increases your maximum health points (HP).

These are the secondary attributes:

  • Fitness: Improves strike damage and pierce damage. Increased by Might, Agility, and Vigor.
  • Resolve: Improves fire damage and cold damage. Increased by Might, Knowledge, and Vigor.
  • Cunning: Improves poison damage and lightning damage. Increased by Agility, Knowledge, and Vigor.

Note that you can only equip weapons and armors if you have the required minimum attribute stat for them. As such, if you focus on Knowledge, then you probably won’t be able to equip gear pieces that require higher Might, Agility, or Fitness. The good news is that you can reset your attribute points via a Ritual Shrine.
